The Luo had a great way of building houses through specific ways for functional and cultural requirements. It had to take specific design and cultural significance. the Luo homestead was initially designed to accommodate a larger family i.e extended family. the homestead was designed to accommodate huts for two generations. That implies that grandsons were not allowed to build in the homestead. The homestead consist of of huts and other typologies such as courtyard, granary and cattle kraal.
